Non-Ulcer Dyspepsia

Non-Ulcer Dyspepsia

Nonulcer dyspepsia is defined as persistent or recurring upper abdominal pain or distress with no functional or biochemical explanation. The exact cause of non-ulcer dyspepsia is unknown, but many myths about its aetiology and treatment have surfaced. The purpose of this review is to assess the possible causes of non-ulcer dyspepsia. We can be more selective in our approach to diagnosis and choice of evidence‐based therapies if we know what it is and what it is not.
