Plastic Surgeries
Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on improving a person’s appearance as well as reconstructing deformities of the face and body caused by illness, accident, or congenital anomalies. It aims to restore function and looks as near to normal as possible.
Plastic surgery improves as well as restores both functionality and beauty. Surgery can be performed on any portion of the body, except the central nervous system. The most common areas of surgery include:
- Scars, birthmarks, burns, tattoo removal and skin
- Maxillofacial surgery
- Deformed ears, cleft lip, cleft palate, and congenital malformations.
Types of Plastic Surgeries
Reconstructive surgeries are used to repair deformities in the face or body. Physical birth defects such as cleft lips and palates and ear deformities, traumatic injuries such as dog bites or burns, and the aftermath of illness treatments such as reconstructing a woman’s breast following breast cancer surgery are examples.
Cosmetic surgeries alter a person’s disliked body parts. Common cosmetic treatments include increasing breast (augmentation mammoplasty) or reducing breast size (reduction mammoplasty), removing fat pockets from specific areas of the body (liposuction) and contouring the nose (rhinoplasty).
